What to do on a Cold Winter's Night???

Okay this is me going a little stir crazy here. Three weeks of overcast gloom...sorry Seattelites, I am just not use to going without sunshine for so long. And my question is...how do you like to spend a cold winters night? I need some creativity here people...

Now is your cue to turn on the YouTube below and listen to Song for a Winter's Night by Sarah McLachlan for the rest of my post...ambiance you know :)

So the most exciting thing I can think of to do, is light candles and have a cup of hot tea.
Mind you it is a brand new tea for me, I just purchased it today. I am generally not a big fan of herbal teas. That gives you a clue as to how bored I am :) Trying a new tea, how exciting :D

Tazo's Green Ginger

It is actually not bad. I really don't care for strong tasting herbal teas usually, but this one is light with just a hint of ginger. I like one other green tea, and it is Tazo's Zen. It has a little lemongrass and spearmint in it. Oh... and I do like Jasmine, when I am in a certain mood. Now when it comes to black tea, I do like it strong. And for all the teas I have in my tea cupboard the one I am out of my favorite tea, is Tetley. I do have some of the decaf left. But it is just not strong enough.

So in honor of National Tea Month...I have decided to clean out my tea cupboard and show you all my teas. Ridiculous really. Last year I shared my tea pot obsession. So this year I thought I would come forth with my tea collection.

Notice on the right hand side are what I call real teas. Then on the left a collection of herbal schmerbals...

Ha...I couldn't even fit all the boxes in the shot. So I just put out one bag from each Stash Tea I have (peach, chamomile, green chai) a few more Tazo's(Passion,Wild Sweet Orange...yuk by the way) two from Good Earth (English Breakfast, Chai) Than after I took the picture I found two more tea's Celestial Gingerbread Spice, another big yuk, and one very special tea from a teashop in Paris, that was located on the street we were stayed at( rue du Cherche Midi)  The English teas are definitely my favorite. I had discovered Lady Grey in an English B&B and have since never been without it.  My son in law brought me a Blend #42 Earl Grey from Harrods when he was there.  I purchased an Afternoon Earl Grey from a tea shop called Whittards when I visited London that is just lovely.

So there you go, my tea obsession...now I need to go pitch some of these teas, and have a clean organized cupboard. The Echinacen, Scottish Nog, and Gingerbread are definitely going!

What do you do on a cold winter's night???

Oooohh yes, I love my teas too! On a cold winter's night? I like to grab my favorite cuddly blanket my husband bought me,curl up and phone a friend or family member I haven't had a chance to talk to for a while. Amazing how quickly time passes in great "company!"

We listen to music and read to one another. We have a book going all the time...a separate one for morning devotions and a good novel (even classic) or something for the evenings. Sometimes we watch a movie. Currently, we're trying to round up Fireproof having heard so much about it.

I love that song. We're still playing her Christmas cd. Kinda sad, but true. =)

As for your teas...LaDonna did some excellent posts on why we don't like green tea just this past week...Check out Gracious Hospitality. Perhaps you're doing something wrong in the brewing...I was.

Stay warm, my friend! Cozy down...

I'm still listening to Sarah...lovely song! My teas are mostly for my guests...since my obsession is more into the java's. But my favorite regular tea is Earl Grey...and I like Chai...and your new ginger tea looks good. And now you have everything organized...and can sip tea (and order seeds) while you wait for spring.

You do have lots of teas. I'm afraid the only tea I like is mint. My mom use to make it from real mint leaves she grew in her garden when I was little.

There haven't been any long winter's nights here in TX. But I usually like to curl up with a good book.

Good idea about the phone call Gwendolyn

Vee: I will give Gracious Hospitality a fly by. The only time my husband reads to me are snippets from the Sunday morning paper when I am technically still asleep =/

Judy: Yes I must get back to my seed order. I am actually excited about a new perennial catalog I have received Ambergate. Lots of new varieties.

I cleaned out my coffee/tea drawer last week, ridding myself of several herbals that were taking up space. :D For everyday I love the Tetley, and on Sunday afternoon I have tea from the Empress Hotel in Victoria. Perhaps I should clean the teapot shelves next.

The gray skies are really bearing down on me. The older I get the harder it is for me to handle. Such a silly thing when God is so good. :)

Von: it appears we have the same taste in tea...who knew :]

Sounds just like our weather.

The last time someone opened their well stocked tea cupboard and offered me some, most were about 4 years out of date. Sadly I declined. The reason I keep a small selection.

After black tea my favourite is Vervein. First introduced to it in France where it seemed to be the only thing on offer whenever I asked about herbal teas.

Barbara: a very good point about clean out the tea cupboard on a regular basis.

By the way all, I have sunshine today!!!!

Interestly, I have found myself collecting tea too. About a year ago I discovered Adagio Black Current Tea - it is loose, and has a nice robust fruity quality. I also have discovered a type of green tea that the chinese market calls "White Monkeys". It is a lighter flavor, mild and delightful with a squeeze of lemon, and a dash of honey.

What do I do when I am indoors and it s gloomy out? Snuggle, read, light a candle, or perhaps bake.

Thank you so much for your kindness in regards to losing my dad. You and I know where are dads are, and that gives me such peace.I just feel like I have lost my equilibrium and just now I'm getting my footing. Everyday is better and easier now. Thanks again. God Bless you...

This blogger stopped by my site and left a comment. I checked out her blog and found out she is a gardener. I thought you might want to stop by sometime to visit. I also left her your blog address.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am trying to figure out why my video wouldn't work for you. Hopefully, we can get that fixed.

I love your entry for this months tea celebration. Have you ever heard of teavana? I recently went to one of their tea shops in Chicago. You can find them online at teavan.com (YUMMO - Green Tea Heaven is my favorite!)

Looking forward to seeing more of your garden later!

I have just "stalked" over to your blog through another site...thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas. the pictures of the little one are absolutely adorable. I am a tea drinker, however not a particularly adventurous one, sticking mostly to a few favorites. What to do on a cold winter evening? Probably doing what I am doing now...checking out blogs while my husband is sleeping in front of the hockey game...oh, so exciting...(chuckle!)

Oh dear, another interesting blog!!! I just keep finding more and more! Ah, what a "problem"! (I love it!) - but I have to add my tea to your list - it is Constant Comment! I love it, have you ever tried it?

Now I will go back to reading the rest of your posts!

Have a great day!

Hugs from Michigan - Diane

P.S. My son is moving to Tacoma in a few weeks - I keep telling him, they don't get any sunshine out that direction! But he still wants to move there!
