Still waiting

As I have been observing my last blog title, it has been speaking to me on another level of my life I am also in a waiting mode. Waiting on the Lord. In the past that thought or season in life has sometimes frustrated me. I have always had the tendency to either look back and remember the good old days or look to forward, eager to get to the next place. I have often struggled to find contentment in the moment. Paul has a bit of wisdom on this that he has seemed to have really grabbed a hold of Php 4:11 “Actually, I don't have a sense of needing anything personally. I've learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances.”
It seems to me at the beginning of this new season, there is a sense of anticipation of what the Lord is up to this year. Certainly there are areas in my life I am asking God, what is the plan Lord? Interestingly enough, to me anyway, I find myself being content to be in the process…of just waiting on Him. Contentment in the process is fairly a unique experience for me. Maybe this is wisdom finally settling down into me by the mere fact that I have started to reach a certain age in life. I don’t know for sure but it feels more like a God thing, His shaping, His molding, His hand of mercy. I am content to simply pray and put the ball back in His court. Thanks God, it’s your serve.

Php 4:6-7 Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.
Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Now comes the big wait...

Amaryrillis bulbs

Today I finally relented to getting the Christmas decorations down and put away. I hold my dear hubby off as long as possible, because I know that for at least the next month, things will be kind of bleak around here as far as the visual scene is concerned. Putting away the Christmas decorations seems to leave such a big emptiness. I do cheat a little and leave up some technically non -Christmas items that I determine are winter wonderlandish. My pale green snowman, some of the twinkle lights I have draped around. A few white and beaded garlands, and even some burgundy candle wreaths and such. But my biggest hope of visual happiness will come when something starts to grow again. Outside, even though we have a fairly mild winter, it will still be a couple of months for any hope there. We plant our peas on Presidents Day, Feb.18th. But I can and do start growing anything and everything I can think of on the inside now. I have already started 3 Amaryrillis bulbs, two white and one pink. I picked up a nice little starter set for those garden seedlings that will just fit in my tiny laundry room. Time to sort through last years seeds, and check out those seed catalogs I have been chucking in a basket to read, for such a time as this. I think a few more plants might help too, especially if they have flowers… Well bye for now I am off to the store to see if I can round up some green stuff, yeah!

All I need is you to have your way...

Finnaly I surrender, by Misty Edwards

I am bushed and exhausted. But it feels like a good kind of tired. We have had our home full to the brim with family and friends all through the holidays. There is something in me that loves to provide a home that is welcoming and inviting to all we know and love. My mother seems to have passed down that gift of hospitality that she so lovingly shared. Or maybe it is my precious Italian heritage, probably a combo of both. I just love people and love to gift to them my home, my time, my energy, and my food. But boy am I pooped! Now my heart is crying out to spend time with the one I love, and the one I am most eager to please. Time to be alone with the one who when He calls my name, my heart melts and I want to be very still and listen closely and hear what He has to say to me.

What will this year hold? What is the plan Lord? Help me to line up with You and all Your ways. Lead me beside Your still waters. I am listening, my beloved.

Son 1:2-4 Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth; for Your love is better than wine. For Your ointments have a lovely fragrance; Your name is as oil poured out; therefore the virgins love You. Draw me, we will run after You. The King has brought me into his chambers; we will be glad and rejoice in You, we will remember Your love more than wine; the upright love You.

What a blessing!

And a whole lot of silliness!

We kind of got a hat theme going! My sister and brother in-law with baby Eden!

The whole gang on Christmas Day

Great Grandma and Puddin Toes!

Eden's first horsy ride. It whinnied, nodded its head and swished its tail. Dan and I couldn't resist this cute pony at Costco. So silly!
Christmas Eve was a much more elegant affair. We went to dinner with the gang at Red Lobster. We than attended a candlelight service at church, followed by an evening of fun and games at my daughters in-laws.

Nana enjoying all her girls!

Thank you Father for blessings to numerous to count!
