Lilac's are this weeks favorite. I am so happy to see my lilacs putting on a bit of a show in my fairly young garden. I am in love with this flower. I have never had such good luck with these plants either. I have planted a few different varieties and I am loving each one of them. I spent my childhood climbing on branches and swaying in the breeze, in some very old what I would call lilac trees. One whiff of that scent and I am right back there to those spring days of my early childhood in New England.
They are just starting to pop open.
These are the old fashion lilacs I grew up with. The most fragrant as far as I can tell. Smaller blooms. This is the fourth garden I have had this lilac in. The original start came from my in- laws home. I have mangaged to bring a start with me to each new garden. Some plants become old friends. It has really taken off in this garden. For some reason this new place loves my old standbys. Now if only the roses will do as well?
And here are the results of my purple annuals purchased last week :}

I tried to leave you a comment last week, to say thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving such lovely comments. Somehow I was unable to leave a comment on your post gardening with your beautiful grand daughter. My little Oliver loves helping me in the garden, and I can't wait until I get get back out there. We have three lilacs in our garden. I too love their blooms and scent. Yours love wonderful.
Thanks again for visiting, and I hope your new grand daughter arrives safely.

It's wonderful that you were able to come to New England transported on the fragrance of a lilac. Lovely!
Oh...I'm waiting for that scent to waft this way! The lilacs are still a few weeks away from blooming here...I think. I have a little Miss Kim lilac...also very fragrant. Thanks for sharing your beautiful blooms.
Such beautiful colors...and perfectly framed by your blog background color. I can almost smell the fragrance!
Spring is finally here! Very, very pretty all flowers.
I feel the fragrance of blooming lilacs, fantastic!
God bless you and your job!
Lilacs are so pretty. I wish we could have this huge panoramic picture of your garden. I would blow it up like a mural for my wall here in my apartment. I imagine it must be amazing to walk around and enjoy them.
Are you a Grandma again yet? How exciting! My son and DIL are expecting their first on Sept 1st, they just found out it's a girl!!!!
I can't wait!

I was in love with Lilacs all my life. Now, I live in apartment and can see only at pics or in the park.
Your lilacs are gorgeous!
Blessings!
Your lilacs are amazing...one of my best memories of childhood is lying in my bed with the window open and the smell of lilacs "wafting" into the room. Its one of those things...I think "that is my favorite flower" but then the next week comes, and new blooms come and I just have "another favorite flower." Definitely gifts from the Father...
Your lilacs are gorgeous, as is everything else too. You are a master gardener, no doubt about that.
