The Mother Load...Elizabeth Goudge

Down town Portland...five blocks from our hotel I finally got a chance to visit Powell's Book Store.  Went right to the classics and found five...count them five Elizabeth Goudge books. I couldn't help thinking of Sara, who introduced me to this author.  I bought all they had.  I found at least two that I already own, but at these great prices I am thinking BLOG GIVE A WAY!

Powell's City of Books is a book lover's paradise, the largest used and new bookstore in the world. Located in downtown Portland, Oregon, and occupying an entire city block, the City stocks more than a million new and used books. Nine color coded rooms house over 3,500 different sections, offering something for every interest, including an incredible selection of out-of-print and hard-to-find titles.

So stay tuned next week for details, and of course a tour of funky down town Portland, OR.

One fun thing the sun came out...apparently they have had quite the soggy spring.

My goodness, you did hit the big time with those buys! Congratulations...and btw, a give-a-way is a wonderful idea. (sorry, had to say it!)

Enjoy!

I would very much like to visit Powells and would surely buy scads of books there. For me, it would be like a candy store is for another person. My dh and I love books.

How amazing that you found all those Elizabeth Goudge books in one store. Very hard to come by here - Amazon best but can be pricey. The 2 EG books that I had on my shelf for decades had been forgotten until Sara pointed out to me they were there when she saw a bookshelf on my blog. How amazing. I have aquired another 3 since. Brilliant and beautiful author. Not many left like her.

Looking forward to downtown Oregon.

What a find on the EG books, and the book store--I wish were on the east coast. And the sun in Portland--I guess that doesn't happen every day!

SUPER cool! :-) What a find! Did they have coffee, too? Dark roast? Our used bookstore doesn't, but that does make it so delightful to wander for hours at Borders. Well, you'll have some fantastic reading for rainy days this summer, when you can't be gardening. And isn't it GREAT to pick up those gorgeous gardening hardbacks for used prices? I added a few myself this spring...might have to blog about them later. Blessings!

Thanks for your comment on my Mary and her pink rose, on my blog. You have a pink rose named Mary Rose, wow, that would be perfect wouldn't it?

Blessed you! I just finished Green Dolphin Street, which I didn't review as I didn't care for it as well as the others, but I simply adore The Little White Horse. Yup, that's an amazing find.

I sure hope you hit the downtown Portland library! The Beverly Cleary room and the bronze tree in the kids room is cool!
