Jenna Dear....

My daughter Jenna is in the second phase of her YWAM mission trip. She spent the first 3 months in Perth, Australia being taught many good things about God and His love for the world. In the second phase of this program they are sent out for three months on an outreach phase. She is in a very hot and tropical place. She is ministering to children in a city slum area. She is having an experience of a lifetime. I realize she will come back not the same daughter who left. Although I can't tell you where she is, I can show you what she has been up to. Here are some pictures and recent bulletins from her My Space, and Blog

This is the gate outside where she is living...she is not in Kansas anymore!

Things are just a little hot....and humid :0)

...and smelly she tells us :]
This is what her typical meal would look like....unless she is out on a visit....

I almost about died

Sooo what an adventure today was!! hahaha We went to two churches today the first one was pretty awesome. A youth group with lots of on fire kids..but ohhh the second church. It was a slum community that lived on a horse race track. The church was in this big building with no AC and no fans for 3 hours. NOT to mention NOOO translator. It was sooo funny everyone was falling asleep. Soo finally they get done and surprise there’s a BBQ and they want to feed us..so we go outside..the food is COVERED in flies....(our translator finally shows up).On the table is a Pigs head..with TEETH!!! And Dog on the table..and ohh my gosh I about died.(Not that I’m not willing to try dog..cause I'm going to..I'm gonna make myself)But anyways it was quite the experience. Sarah (one of my best friends) and i were trying soooo hard not to react with our facial expressions cause we didn’t want to offend anyone..So we had these awkward smiles on our faces..SOO funny. Then we were forced to be in a MILLION photos.

Ohh my lands

i ate chicken FEET today!!!!!!yes i cant believe it either...it was pretty good though! Besides having to spit out the carpels!! HAHA soo sick...

Here is a picture of some of the slums she goes into...

Gosh the kids are amazing here..i cant even tell you. I don’t even like children that much...but when literally 30 of them are chasing you saying MISS JENNA!! HALLLOO!! (that’s there way of saying hello...obviously) haha Its so fun making trains and running around yelling. I swear no one has ever played with these kids its soo incredibly sad!!

As I wait for you...

Amazing calm week of intercession and prayer walking. Don’t worry though, things are about to explode, its all about Gods timing. I've been thinking quite a bit lately about God continually giving me a heart for these people. But also my future, I’m trying not to worry but it’s something that’s been on my heart for a long time. I don’t quite know what God wants me to do! But here is something that oddly has calmed my thinking....There are many things that will catch my eye, but there are only a few that will catch my heart, it is those that I consider to pursue!

a little taste of home

Just sharing this is making me realize how much I miss this kid. God bless her, and keep her, and may your light shine upon her.

I know you are proud. It does my old heart good to see kids out doing what we all should be doing for the Lord. Thank you so much for sharing her with us. Tell her Pappy is praying for her.

I was just reading about Jenna on another blog last night and I commented on how wonderful it was to see her doing something so great. I had no idea in the world that it was your daughter. You must be so proud of her. I can see how you could have such a loving daughter though. She is having an experience of a lifetime. Thank the Lord there are young people out there, like Jenna, to show His love. This is so thrilling. I will be praying for Jenna.

Awww, thanks for telling us more about what Jenna's been up to...oh my! That BBQ sounded like something else! But oh the grin! The beaming smiles. Makes me want to give her a big hug and tell her how proud I am of her for doing God's work even if she's being "stretched" at every turn.

LOL! I didn't even see that Jenna had commented just prior...she's got a sense of humor, too. She's a credit to you, Cindy!!

Thanks for the update on Jenna. I keep checking her blog for news. I loved the phrase....many things catch your eye, but not many your heart. Sound wisdom.

All: oh my I am missing my kids these days. I just got to talk to Josh on Skype for a few minutes. He has shaved his beard ladies and looks much better, though some of you liked his beard. I guess a mother always likes a son clean shaven. He has been out in the field evacuating kids. (Injuries and troublesome ones) It sounds like he is working very hard. I will do an update on him this week too.

Why oh why do I have such adventurous kids???

I do know the answer, and those of you that know us know the answer goes by the name Dan! (husband) :0)

Praying for Jenna this morning as I read this post... it is obvious God is using her to minister, but also that she is finding joy in Him through this time. The last words about what direction she should go in show such wisdom!

THis is heartstopping. She has put aside her fears and worries and waded into the fray.....into a none too safe place...May the Lord be her shield....Just like you say, may the Lord bless her and keep her,and bless all those children who have no fine home to return to.....it's heartbreaking...what she says about no one playing with them....
yet it is clear that they hold her in affection...

I have tremendous admiration for your daughter...through her words it is evident she is growing spiritually and coming to many realizations...the Lord works in mysterious ways.....

I am going to show this to my daughter.....Your daughter is walking in Jesus footsteps, no doubt about it.....

Blessings!

Hey Cindy: so cool to share a little of Jenna. The memories come flooding back & of course brought tears to my eyes. I know exactly what she is talking about & I pray that she never underestimates her impact on the lives that she touches. God's plans & paths are amazing. Will pray all the more for her.
