Cannon Beach Part II

We ran into something rare and special at Cannon Beach this summer...oh yay 3 days of glorious sunshine. When the rest of the P.N.W. has been sweltering in the heat we were enjoying low 70's at the beach with that rare commodity around here...sunshine! But first let me give you a little bit more of a tour around town.

I had briefly wandered into this shop on the first day, but didn't feel like I could linger with Dan in tow. So this morning on our fourth day we had some overcast skies so this was my chance to go get a better look. While Dan hit the hot tub I went window shopping. I fell in love with this shop Sesame and Lilies. Some pretty swanky stuff with some pretty swanky prices...so I just looked. Come take a peek with me. Oh I just have to tell you all... see the white iron trellis through the window below. I didn't even notice it till I put the pictures on my computer. I had just bought one of those at home for about $60.00 less . The dealer was doing a special show at our local farmer's market. He was out of Portland and was selling at 40% off his normal prices. So I guess I really did a get a bit of a deal. You always kind of wonder about that sometimes.

I do a lot of black and white, and lineny neutral colors in my house. I was taken with how to incorporate one of these rustic raw wood pieces into my decorating scheme. I think the pictures will help me remember. We are heading to Portland tomorrow to check out Real Deals on the way home. They will be more my price range so maybe I will find some "Real Deals" there.
Here is a little garden shop I had to go back and check out.
I walked out to the water and turned around and took some shots of the beach...notice Dan under our blue umbrella with circling birds. I kept watching these guys trying to find a spot to land. They were playing territorial wars with the seagulls.
Pelicans were competing for stomping ground with the seagulls.
This is looking south towards Haystack which is pictured on the top of the post.

Every year I do a little water color when I am on the beach to commemorate the trip. This was the scene I chose. I may post it later.

This is looking north
Horse rides on the beach. My kids loved to do this when they were younger.
Good bye lovely Cannon Beach...hope to see you next year!

Thank you so much for sharing the beautiful photography of this very special beach and town. I've looked at each of them over and over again. The gift shop is one I could have spent hours in. Sitting on the beach with a good book...many more hours. It was fun taking this trip with you. I hope you share the painting that you do of that one scene. Great post!!

What great memories of your time at Canon Beach! I'm amazed at the uncrowded beach...I was thinking it was alwyas packed in the summer. Beautiful!

Hope you found a 'real deal'...or two...on the way home!

It all looks so lovely and relaxing sis. I can just hear the waves crashing on the beach. Danny looks so alone out there on the beach, no people, how wonderful.

I was right with ya in those swanky shops!

So how did you do at "Great Deals" in Portland? I guess I'll see in a couple of weeks. ;)

Glad that you got to return to the little shop. I never can shop with my beloved to the extent that I'd like either. What a great pic of Dan on the beach with the gulls circling. Ha! We have vultures circling that way and I always tell visitors who stop to look up not to stop moving.

Yes! Show us your water color! I really want to see it.

What beautiful shops and a grand beach. I can't wait to see your watercolor. I wish I was close to you so I could take some lessons. Too bad we can't do it on-line. Do you think it would work? I love your work. Cannon Beach is somewhere I would love.

Oh Trish you are so cute. I am NOT a watercolorist...I just fool around with it. Now drawing lessons...hmmm I have never thought of on line teaching...that may be given some thought. You could be my Guinna pig?

Judy & Chris: Most of the time we go the beaches are not very crowed. This was a particularly isolated spot because we had crossed Ecola River to get there...just up to our calves. But well worth the peaceful isolation. If you click on the picture you will see folks in the background, on the other side of the river.

Beautiful, beautiful pics! But I can't get over those amazing photos of your little Sweetpea, on the sidebar. She is PRECIOUS! I have three grandbabies too. What would we do without them?

It is so beautiful there! Definitely water color country. I like that first shot too for a watercolor.

Each photo is a postcard. How atmospheric. Hold tight to your wallet in that Sesame and Lillies shop.....would be quite easy to walk out of there with several armfuls but a much lighter bank account...

Cindy,
You delighted me this morning while I was sipping my coffee and getting motivated for the day. Cannon Beach is my FAV place to vacation, we go almost every year. I missed it this year as we went down into California and took into some other sights. Where is that cute new shop you have pics of? I still hope to get there before school starts again for me :) Good luck with the mice, I can so identify. We had mice at work and I made quite a scene in the lounge during an important visit from dignitaries. Apparently, screaming in the work place is not a highly acceptable practice! Who knew?! By the way, if you are ever really serious about giving art lessons, count me in.

What beautiful photos...like living in a dream! I haven't been to Canon Beach since I was a teenager...definitely need to go back. No wonder you felt so well rested when you got back. Thank you for sharing your vacation....

Beautiful vistas and, yes, you must post your watercolor (would love to see the previous ones, too.) So glad you had such a lovely time at a place where the view of God's handiwork was uncluttered by man-made vistas. Doesn't it give you that "just right" perspective to see the ocean. I always feel that way as I stand on the shore, as the waves lap over my feet and pull a little bit of sand away each time. It's so much bigger than I am, it just puts me right in my place. :)

Blessings,
Christi
